Situation Summary

"Health Forum is one of the world’s preeminent convening organizations of innovative, progressive healthcare leaders, offering them a forum to exchange "best of class" information, create new knowledge and co-design actionable solutions that improve organizational, individual and community health. Among the projects and activities in which the Health Forum participates are the Health Forum Fellowship Programs, which are the premier leadership development programs for senior leaders in health care. Examplefellowships include the Creating Healthier Communities Fellowship and the Cardiovascular Health Fellowship, which are intense, year-long opportunities that develop leaders who can advance a new vision of population health.

Our Fellows tell us that a highlight of these Fellowships is their week-long Leadership Retreat, during which they are exposed to some of the leading thinkers in fields ranging from ethics and spirituality, systems thinking, leadership development, and emerging technology. Our criteria for selecting — and retaining — faculty are exceptionally rigorous. Mr. Ellis has been part of our Leadership Retreat faculty since 1995, and his sessions are consistently among our most highly rated. His work has focused on providing Fellows with problem-solving and facilitation skills pivotal to their roles as leaders and change agents, and with approaches to diversity and economic justice that challenge them to push the boundaries of conventional definitions of health.

He has engaged Fellows in highly interactive workshops, and has offered to meet with other faculty in order to integrate key elements of their material into his presentations. In addition, in his role he has consulted with Fellows one-on-one on their real-life work issues, and has made himself generally available for a range of questions and conversations. Not insignificantly, the Fellows often welcome him to join the late-night conversations and fun activities that create life-long bonds among many Fellows.
